Sunshine Coast Branch Surf Rescue Championships
From the 15th-17th of January, the Alex Surf Rescue Team competed at the Sunshine Coast Branch Surf Rescue Championships at Mooloolaba Beach. The entire team performed admirably, and even with some late team changes and untested combinations they were able to deliver some incredible results.
Although smaller than previous seasons, the Alex team managed a stack of results and finished a commendable 3rd on the overall point score. Highlights of the weekend included: James Martin and Lance Wood flying the flag for our junior competitors and coming 2nd and 5th respectively in the U14 Male Champion Lifesaver, and seeing members of our Open Patrol Competition teams step and complete assessor duties to assist with the completion of the U15 Patrol Competition scenarios. The team will now refocus and train for our State Championships that are scheduled for the 12th-14th of February at Broadbeach.
To all of the assessors, officials, patients, parents, coaches and anyone else that assisted the team prior to and across the weekend. There are way too many of you to name, but we can’t strut our stuff without the incredible work you put in behind the scenes - so thank you so much for the time and you give up for us.
