Surf Girl Update - November

Over the past month, I have been fortunate enough to tick a couple of big goals off my Surf Girl and 2019/20 season bucket list. I participated in my first Boat Carnival with a trip down to Minnie Water, NSW. It was a great weekend away with the Boaties crew and whilst the conditions were less than favourable, we learnt a lot and paddled extremely well, (overall, undefeated champions of Reserve Grade women). We also competed in our second carnival at Mooloolaba for the first round of the Navy Surf Boat Series, coming away with a 5th place!

We held our much anticipated Beer, Wine & Spirits Tasting and it was a roaring success. We had ten local vendors donate their time and products to tantalise our taste buds. Every person I spoke to was extremely impressed, albeit, they were a couple of tastings deep by this time. A big thank you to Darren Naylor of Brockenchack Wines for the assistance in organising this fundraiser and I look forward to making it an annual event.

One of the biggest goals I set for myself this year was to complete my Gold Medallion. On the 9th & 10th of this month, I got the opportunity to attend the pool and beach assessments and am stoked to announce that I successfully completed these assessments and am now a proud Gold Medallion holder. A big thank you must go to those who helped me leading into the Scenario assessment.

I was also selected to be a Facilitator at the SLSQ 18-30 Leadership Excellence Program (LEP) held at St Leos, UQ. This program is an exception way for our members to gain leadership, crisis management and professional skills all whilst having fun! It was the first 18+ camp, I have attended as a leader and I would recommend this program for anyone wishing to enhance their skills in all areas of life and Surf Life Saving in particular.

Over the next month, leading into Christmas, we will have our Christmas Raffle Tickets up for sale from the Foyer or the Admin office. Up for grabs is a Family Hamper full of goodies for EVERYONE! We will also be having a Christmas Colour-In Competition for all Nipper ages, please see the admin office if you missed out on your copy.

I wish you all the happiness for the festive season!
