From the CEO & President - September

October 8, 2019

Alex Surf Club had plenty going on in September, Nutri-Grain Trials at Coolum, fundraiser for our two Junior Australian Team Representatives and of course our Annual Golf Day. The trials were exciting racing in Coolum with Cooper Williams qualifying for the series and Tayla Halliday missing out by one spot which was devastating for her but an impressive effort for a 16 year old, a lot of people left Coolum going “Wow what about that kid from Alex,” well done. Cooper had a great weekend and as usual raced hard and got the result he deserved and will now join Tiarrn Raymond as our two athletes in the series which is very exciting for the club. Let’s make sure we give them plenty of our Black and Gold support.

Well done to all involved in the Emma Woods Tayla Halliday fundraiser for their trip to South Africa. It was well supported by club members and I know the girls and their families appreciated it. At the time of writing they have just got back and have had a life experience over there that they will never forget, with both the Junior and Senior Teams winning the World Title and both girls getting great results. Of course Alyssa Bull was our senior representative and played a big part in their win and judging by the photos had a great time hanging out with Alex Chicks. Thank you so much for everyone that supported the fundraiser and Tiarrn for putting it together along with the Supporters Management and staff for making it a great night. Thanks also to Brad Doughan for buying the Roosters jersey in the auction and Leigh Hartland for the Origin Experience both generous efforts.

The BOQ Alex Golf Day was a great day played in perfect conditions at Headland Golf Club. Thanks again to Tiarrn for putting it together and Sonita our wonderful Surf Girl for making it a fun day with all our volunteers and golfers. Thanks also to Jamie from Sunstate for offering up a Jetski for a hole one, some unlucky punter missed out by 4 cm wheew! A big thanks to all our sponsors on the day and El Presidente Sam for not only being the major sponsor but buying Beer for a Year in the auction. Keep your eye out for more Surf Girl fundraisers like the 300 Club where this year you could win $10,000 or second prize a Grinders Scooter from Sunstate Motorcycles.
