The Surf Girl Program is an annual membership development program promoting women in lifesaving. It is about engaging with the community, presenting surf safety education and fundraising for the vital equipment that we use to save lives on the beach. This year, I, Sonita Leng-Cole, will be the ambassador in this program for Alexandra Headland SLSC. I’m incredibly humbled to be representing Alex and will be running events throughout the year aiming to raise as much money as possible, get to know our members and promote the incredible work we do in the broader community.
I have been a member at Alex SLSC since U13s and have been involved in lifesaving since I was 6 years old. I have been involved in a variety of ways across the years, including attending numerous youth leadership programs as a participant, leader and mentor; competing in a number of areas including Ironwoman racing, Champion Lifesaver, Patrol Competition and IRB Racing and have received various medals at the State and Australian Titles level. I am a Patrol Captain and IRB Driver and this year I have also have taken on the roll of Youth Development Officer as I am incredibly passionate about developing youth members within Surf Life Saving.
I am incredibly excited for the next portion of my Surf Life Saving journey and cannot wait to do it with you all. You will start to see information regarding fundraising events popping up around the club. Please jump on board and support me, all of the proceeds will be going straight back into our club. When you see me around the club, I would really love to get to know you, so please stop and say G’day. If you’re willing to help out at events, BBQ’s or in any other way, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or our wonderful administration ladies.
Thank you in advance!
