CPR/Advanced Resuscitation Techniques for members
General course information
Upon successful completion of this course you will be awarded with the SLSA Advanced Resuscitation Techniques award. You will also receive the following nationally recognised qualification and units of competency issued through Surf Life Saving Queensland (RTO 2804):
HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
Specific entry requirements
The course is specifically designed for individuals who are already trained in first aid and are wishing to develop further skills to safely administer oxygen to a breathing or non-breathing casualty.
The pre-requisite unit is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Minimum age 15
Financial member (who holds appropriate Blue Card and CYRMS/CSA if over 18 years of age)
Be an actively patrolling member
Course overview
The Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) course is to develop skills and knowledge to manage life-threatening external bleeding, use oxygen, airway management devices and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious victims.
Assessment
Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in a simulated workplace setting. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
