Course Dates
IRB Crew courses are typically run as follows:

1 Weekday evening
-
Plus 1 Saturdays and Sundays
The next IRB Crew course will be held on the 27th & 28th of December from 7:45am - 2pm.
Pre-Requisites
Candidates must be at least 15 years of age on the final assessment date and hold a proficient Bronze Medallion
What's Covered
Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat in surf rescue operations.
Learning Outcomes:
List the different classes of IRB
Identify the components of an IRB and ancillary equipment
Contribute to the safe and efficient launching of an IRB
Demonstrate safe crewing positions while negotiating the surf
Perform emergency procedures
Observation, hazards and risks are identified and clearly communicated to the driver
Maintain an IRB:
Perform pre-operational checks and preventative maintenance of the IRB hull
Perform post-operational maintenance of the IRB hull
Report major wear or damage according to organisation procedures
Perform conscious and unconscious casualty pick-ups
Perform complex rescues including swimming rescues, sailboarder and kite surfer rescues.
Assessment
Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios. This will take place on the final day of the course.
