Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART)

Course Dates

All training is postponed until further notice

ART courses are typically run as follows:

  • Saturday or Sunday from 8am - 4pm

  • Two consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6pm - 9pm'

The education team is planning upcoming ART courses for the 2021/2022 season. Dates will be annnounced to members and advertised here once confirmed.


  • Be at least 15 years of age

  • Financial member for 2021/22

  • Hold appropriate Blue Card if 18 years of age or older

  • Have completed the current CYRMS if 18 years of age or older

  • Participants must hold a current unit of competency HLTAID011 Provide First Aid to enrol into this course

  • Be an actively patrolling member

What's Covered

The aim of the SLSA Advanced Resuscitation Techniques course is to develop your skills and knowledge to use oxygen, airway management devices and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, as well as the administration of oxygen to conscious or unconscious victims.

Units of competency

HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy


Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

Note: for members who hold Advanced Resuscitation Techniques [AID] (HLTAID007) this remains a current award for SLS and does not require upgrading. Members can continue to do skills maintenance and patrol with this award.


Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning and practical demonstrations throughout the course.
