Mark Thornton joined the Club and gained his Bronze Medallion in 1997. He obtained several awards and was very active in the nipper club, holding the position of Chairperson from 2003 to 2005. He has held the positions of Surf Sports Officer, Lifesaving Officer and Youth Officer of the Club during the period from 2005 to 2010. Mark has received his 15 Year National Patrol Service Award and has been continuously involved as an active patrolling lifesaver since joining the Club.

He was awarded Life Membership in 2016 for his services to the Club.
