John Prior joined the Club and gained his Bronze Medallion in 1995. He went on to gain several awards and became the Training Officer and Patrol Captain. He was IRB Captain from 1998 to 2000 and was very active in the  development of IRB rescue and competition in the Club generally. He was named Best Patrolling Member and also won the Club Life Saver of the Year award.

He was awarded Life Membership in 2012 for his considerable contribution to the Club.
